Linguist specialising in sociolinguistics; language policy and planning; studying minorities and endangered and minority languages; researching language revitalisation and documentation; and language minority rights protection. Professor of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, head of the Department of Language Policy and Minority Studies. Collaborated with language minority communities in Europe, Asia and America. Visiting professor of the Hokkaido University in Sapporo (2018-2019); academic contributor of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. (2019-2024). Author of the project Poland’s Linguistic Heritage – Endangered Languages Database (inne-jezyki.amu.edu.pl). Honorary citizen of the Wilamowice municipality; winner of the Vitoslav’s Gorget Award for contributions to the development, protection and promotion of the Kashubian language; graduate of the Roma – Knowledge and Institutional Practices post-graduate curriculum.
